2012 Holiday Season ...RESULTS...

Our 2012 Holiday Season Chess tournament drew 31 players from Global, Timon Bishop, and other local schools. We divided into three sections according to their December ratings. First a word about ratings before we mention the winners of the tournament. The USCF takes the last rating of a player right up to the third Friday of every month and then uses that rating to update their rating supplement at the beginning of the next month. For example if you play a tournament on Saturday December 15th,  and get a new rating of let's say 1200 then on the following Saturday the 22nd  your rating goes down to 1149. When you play your next tournament in January your rating according to the USCF rating supplement will show 1200 and not 1149. Sounds simple enough, but there are other contingencies like the tournament director (TD) sending in the tournament on time or if the TD uses the latest rating supplement in the tournament one plays in; I hope this clarifies some of the confusion about what rating is being used for you in the tournaments. QueensKnight will always use the latest USCF rating supplement available for our tournaments.
Okay enough of that jargon, here are the winners of the 2012 Holiday Season Tournament.

In the Unrated section:
            Winner was JOSHUA CAMPBELL
Second place went to MEGAN MELOON
            Third COREY McCOOEY
            Fourth KYLE FULLONE
            Fifth TYLER OLROGG

In the U-750 section:
            Winner ROMAN CASTLE
            Second NICHOLAS RZEZNIK
            Third ENYA CIRILLO

In the U-1500 section:
            Winner BENJAMIN RUMMELL
            Second JOSHUA BENHAM
            Third TIM KEANE

Our next tournament will be the Blizzard Challenge on January 12th. This is a FREE tournament, so stay tuned for more info. Till next year.

I WISH YOU ALL A HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON
FELIZ NAVIDAD

Taco Bell, Mighty Taco, avocados, tortillas, burritos, fajitas, salsa, The Tango, El Merengue, El Paso Doble, Pablo Picasso, Dali, Frida Kahlo, Antonio Banderas, Pedro Lopez,  Sofia Vergara, and supreme court judge Sotomayor are just a few of the names, sounds, and people that Hispanic month brings to mind. Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated between September 15th thru October 15th. Share in the cultural adventure they bring to us.
