THE LEPRECHAUNS HAVE SPOKEN

The Leprechauns have spoken. They say that on Saint Patty's Day we had many new winners at Global's chess tournament this past Saturday. Their song went a little like this:

"LAD...MARTIN SAVKA CHAMPIONED THE UNRATED SECTION, LAS...SABRINA CAMPBELL STRUCK GOLD  AGAINST ALL THE UNDER 700 LADS. WHILE THE UNDER 1000 GROUP WAS TAKEN BY THOMAS BLUM AND THE HEAVY HITTING IRISH FIGHTERS (U1500) WERE COMMANDED BY THE LAD... KEVIN LYLE. ALL THESE IRISH FOLKS FOUND GOLD AT THE END OF THEIR RAINBOW."

Now seriously we had a great turn out, 31 players in all, some new faces and some old friends alike. we had ladies dressed in green controlling the green and kids with energy to share and spare, but the final results were as follows:

NY States Championship...WNY Results

The New York State Championship results are in and we just keep going up that ladder slowly but surely.  We placed better than our first two years attending nationals in Ohio.

Our Middle School Team played in the reserve section and came out in 8th place. The team consisted of Nicholas and Savannah Ivon, Megan Meloon, Sabrina Campbell, Nageeb Umar, Madalynn McCutcheon, Enya Cirillo and Roman Castle. Enya won 3 out of 6, Nicholas 2.5, Sabrina 2 and Madalynn 2 earning our team a total of 9.5pts.

Our High School Reserve team came in 5th place. The team was made up of two young men Alexander Campbell, and Jacob Meloon who played their hearts out against a strong field of NYC teams. Alexander won 3 out of six and Jacob got 2.5pts.

In other sections our Western New Yorkers were represented very well. Pioneer took 2nd place in the MS Reserve Team  section, James Lyon won the individual award in the same section. In the High School Reserve section Timon Bishop took 2nd place as a team. The Lyle Brothers took 6th place in the team section as well. Individually Reagan Lyle also won the U1300 section for his great performance.
I know all the WNY coaches feel the same when we say
WE ARE ALL PROUD OF YOU, CONGRATULATIONS.
